The Accidental Barista – How I Made Rose Milk Tea and Survived the Compliment

I didn’t mean to start a tea blog. I meant to make my wife a drink so she’d stop buying $7 ones from that pink café with the fake grass wall. Somehow, this ended in me hand-infusing rose petals and whispering “is this too much?” into the void. Turns out: it wasn’t.

TLDR ingredients:

  • 1 black tea bag (or loose leaf, if you’re trying to impress someone)
  • 1 tbsp dried rose petals (edible, not potpourri—ask me how I know)
  • 1 cup milk of choice (oat milk if you’re feeling fragile)
  • Honey or sugar, to taste

Steep, strain, sweeten, and stir. Bonus points if you serve it in a mug that says something passive-aggressive like “World’s Okayest Husband.”

Equipment

Equipment can have a big impact on how a recipe turns out. Stone bakeware takes longer to heat up than metal pans, and also retain heat for longer, which could make the recipe more watery, or burnt on the outsides.

Storage

Store the wet ingredients (lettuce, tomato, onion) separately from the dry ingredients (buns) in the fridge, and recombine when ready. Good for 2-3 days.
